Criminal defense needed for men charged in home-invasion murder

When a crime occurs, there are usually circumstances that may mitigate the seriousness of the action. At the time of one's arrest, those circumstances may remain unknown. Often this results in the harshest charges being filed against the accused. It remains for an experienced criminal defense team to bring those details to light in order to ensure justice is served in the courtroom. Two Michigan men are likely each focused on preparing a criminal defense following a recent incident.

After a 37-year-old man was found dead of a gunshot wound, police narrowed their suspect list to several men they believed acted together in the home invasion that is said to have resulted in the man's death. Four days after the shooting, police came across two men outside a home. When officers approached the men, the men went into the house and reportedly barricaded themselves inside. Although one man emerged from the building quickly, law enforcement surrounded the house for almost five hours until the second man surrendered.

The 38-year-old man who surrendered first was arrested and charged with murder and first-degree home invasion in addition to felony firearms charges. He was denied bond. The second suspect, a 39-year-old man from Michigan, was arrested for parole violations and may face charges related to the home invasion.

Murder and home invasion penalties are steep in most states. If found guilty, these men may spend the rest of their lives in prison. To try to avoid such consequences, people who are facing serious charges rely on an experienced criminal defense attorney to provide more positive options and to protect their rights.
